3D Indurtrial Standard—Possible to come out, Extension day remains uncertain

Date:2012-11-07 Reading:1178

It is confirmed officially that standard of 3D Television industry in China may come out by the end of this year and the national standard has managed to submit. The first 3D TV channel of China is in preparation in Tianjin. About 10 TV stations showed their interests and hoped it will bring reform to TV industry.

Newly 3D TV and 3D movies are springing up all over the world and have won great popularity definitely like movies of 3D Avatar and 3D FIFA World Cup, from which we can prove it. However, there are still some problems that we have to settle before the total success of 3D TV& 3D movies. The problems going as follows:

First of all, a shortage of available original material. Most present 3d videos are converted from 2D to 3D through zoom of close shot and long shot. Japanese and South Korean enterprises dominate the market of 3D products because the companies of Samsung, Panasonnic, Toshiba and Sony own main advantages in electronic technology market. However, the spreading of 3D still needs time. Because the spreading of LCD,PDP and LED are all popularized by changes of market demand caused by single product upgrading. But 3D and Internet relate to interactive development of the whole industry chain. It requires coordination of 3D content origin, 3D processing equipment and 3D industrial standard, especially original content suppliers and programme producers.

Secondly, 3D standard is in preparation but not integrated yet. Integration of 3D standard is the premise of sustainable development of 3D industry, and it will help the upstream original content providers to ensure the future commercial space of this industry. Manufacturers like Panasonic, Samsung and Sony should spread 3D TV, computer and DVD in market for more manufacturers to join in, and that's the underlying reason why Panasonic and Samsung hurry in spreading 3D TV.

Thirdly, 3D tends to make audience dizzy, and that's why Japanese industry decides to authorize 3D standard again. Although audience feel real through 3D, they may get asthenopia and easily influenced. Thus, Japanese economic province decides to set relevant standards for video producers in appealling for less strong3D effect and more comfortable 3D environment. And this is what 3D really aiming at.

What's more, 3D glasses requires much of eyesight. English government ristricts children under nine to watch 3D movie in cinema. And Chinese treat TV as the center of home audio-visual entertainment, including both the elders and children.

Last but not least, 3D TV requires high vertical refresh rate, which means 400 clear and dynamic images are broadcast per second(400HZ). Our eyes can see separate 200 frames with little differences and feel like attending it. TV on market provide only 100HZ or 200HZ, so audience get 50 frames or 100 frames with 3D glasses, worse than the effect of 400HZ. Such vertival refresh rate avoids dizziness and make people comfortble to release their worry of dizziness and harm to eyes.

General secretary of Chinese 3D Industry Association (C3D) Tang Bin said, C3D has set a special team and call on leading Color-TV brands to establish regulations together. The draft of 3D standard has been achieved ,which has much influences on 3D industry in China. He added, 3D TV needs examining from customers.

Much evidence tells us that 3D era is coming, and its development is faster than most we can imagine. Thus, it is a good chance for well developing of Shining3D products such as 3D Scanner, 3D Camera, 3D ELD, 3D Metric as well as other new 3D products or solutions in future. Shining3D Tech will achieve much on hardware and softwares, creative design of content and technical support.
